This past week, Altoona, PA, was in the news, because the suspect wanted in the deadly shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO was spotted in a local McDonalds… I only remember Altoona from our visit to the Horseshoe Curve. The curve of about 400m in diameter was designed to reduce the slope, to get through the Allegheny Mountains. Very impressive to see the huge, long, cargo trains slowly but surely pull themselves through the mountains, along the curve.
